Gone fishing ...

Fishing. It's almost a religion here. Any day of the week Saints can be seen way out to sea in tiny boats or perched on rocks at the base of precarious cliffs. If Saints aren't actually fishing, they're planning their next fishing trip, or talking about fishing, or trying to find someone to go fishing with, or just thinking about fishing. Even when they're fishing they talk about the next fishing trip with flashbacks to some of their many previous fishing trips. Saints like fishing. Unlike fisherman elsewhere, a Saint isn't worried about the size of fish, just that he has caught enough to feed himself and his family for the next few days. Bigger fish get that done quicker (and don't have so many bones). We like fishing too, so we thought we'd tag along on some of the trips. Result? Saints: innumerable fish of many different kinds. Kiwis: one conger (moray eel), two small jacks (coral trout), and a catfish (octopus) caught by mistake when fishing for crabs. We think we might have to take fishing lessons. Luckily there is no shortage of people wanting to take us fishing so they can teach us fishing. We're off again this sunday. Hopefully we'll learn something and start contributing to the all important fish fry at the end of the fishing trip. Enjoy the pics.
